David Guion

Marching Percussion Technician

David Guion grew up in Waxhaw, North Carolina and currently lives in Charlotte. He attended Parkwood High School, which is where he started his marching band journey, joining the Parkwood percussion section. At Parkwood, he was a part of numerous jazz bands, concert bands and percussion ensembles, as well as the marching band drumline. After graduation, David was accepted to Western Carolina University and was also accepted into the “Pride of the Mountains” Marching Band program where he was part of the 2008 “Work It” show. After WCU, David attended Appalachian State University to focus on his major, Elementary Education. At AppState, David was a member of the ASU Marching Mountaineers where he was the section leader for his last two years. Since graduating in 2013, David has been a second grade teacher at Merry Oaks Elementary School, where he has taught math and science. He played snare drum for the Carolina Panthers PurrCussion for one season in 2013. David has been a band staff member at UNC Charlotte since the inception of the 49ers Drumline in 2013, working primarily with the bass drums.
